Take It To The MAX

The Take It The MAX is designed to introduce second lieutenants about Services and club membership while attending the Air and Space Basic course, Maxwell AFB. The focus is similar in nature to the enlisted UBU program but intended solely for second lieutenants.

The UBU program is a joint venture between HQ AFSVA and HQ AETC whereby basic military training students are provided their first introduction to Services programs and club membership while assigned to Lackland AFB. The program is again eatingreintroduced at their tech training sites at Goodfellow, Kessler, Lackland, and Sheppard AFBs with a greater emphasis on club membership followed up with a Services program overview. Football Frenzy

Annually HQ AFSVA offers club membership the opportunity to win an all expense paid trip to a regular season National Football League game to include the Superbowl and Pro Bowl. This program is only available to Air Force club card members in good standings with their local club.

Each year HQ AFSVA in conjunction with Chase Bank, provide the opportunity for Air Force Club members and their families who attend college to receive education/tuition assistance by participating in and essay contest with the chance of winning one of six scholarship totaling $25K.

Golf Programs
You can find a golf course on just about every AETC base and some are comparable to the finest country club courses in the USA.  Prices are reasonable and E4 and below are offered a discount rate.  Our Pro Shops carry the latest golf equipment however if we do not have what you are looking for, special ordering is available.  The majority of courses have a pro on the staff ready to lend a hand with lessons. Our golf courses also have full service snack bars and have the ability to cater your next golf outing.

Link Up to Golf

AETC golf courses are offering Link Up2 Golf at participating golf courses.   This program is designed to make learning the game simpler, fun and more affordable than ever before.

Designed for brand new, inexperienced golfers, as well as infrequent and former golfers, Link Up 2 Golf provides a relaxed learning atmosphere without the intimidation factor with emphasis on having fun.  The program includes 8 hours of lessons, free use of rental clubs and range balls during clinics, instruction on how to play the game, etiquette, lingo, etc and on-course group playing lesson with pro. Check with your golf course pro shop for orientation schedule.

Kid’s Golf
Kids golf is a new youth player development program which makes learning the game easy and affordable, but most of all, fun.  Funded by AETC Services, Kid’s Golf is designed to give children ages 5-16 years old the love of a game they’ll play for a lifetime.   The program provides participants with a solid foundation about the game of golf, including swing mechanics, etiquette, terminology, proper behavior, and how to maintain speed of play.  Participants receive eight hours of small group instruction three supervised on-course playing experiences.  Participants also receive a logo t-shirt, golf towel, neon tee pack and bag tag, rules and etiquette brochures and a graduation certificate. Junior clubs are provided for all lessons.

Family Bowling
   

Bowling is the one of the few places on AETC bases that provides entertainment for the entire family at an affordable price.  It is lots of fun, offered year-round, there is little skill involved and the sport can be enjoyed no matter what your age.   All of our bowling centers have the latest automatic scoring system with graphics and games you can play while bowling.  Bumper bowling and light weight balls are available for children so they do not become discouraged when bowling; they can always knocked down pins!

Most of our bowling centers have glow in the dark bowling with special lighting, music, dancing and games.  Everyone has a great time and is mostly enjoyed by the younger generation.  Birthday parties and special events are available and special packages are offered for groups.   You may want to hold your next squadron event at your local bowling center!

For bowlers that like a little competition, to socialize and find ways to meet new friends, league bowling is for you!  There are many different types of leagues, Offered daily to meet your convenience with morning, afternoon and evening leagues. Sign up usually begin in July for the fall season, stop by your bowling center to see what is available.
    
Bowling Centers are known for their delicious hamburgers and all AETC bowling centers have snack bars or cafes the serve a full menu to include breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Visit an AETC bowling Pro Shop for balls, bags and shoes. You will also find bowling accessories, expert ball measuring, drilling, and plugging by bowling center professionals.

Airman and Family Services

Family Member Programs

Family Member Programs provides quality, affordable and age appropriate activities for youth age 6 weeks – 18 years.   Opportunities provide for youth to develop their physical, social, emotional, and cognitive abilities and to experience achievement, leadership, enjoyment, friendship and recognition.  Daily up through year-round activities involve a wide spectrum of the base child and youth population to meet the needs of active duty military personnel and Department of Defense (DoD) civilians.  Programs range from specific ratio care, group activities, self-directed activities, field trips, various sport classes and leagues, to specialize off base camps.   Parents can be active in the programs on the Parent Advisory Committee, volunteer to be part of the Multi-Discipline Inspection, volunteer their cultural and talent experiences in classes, become an instructor (dance, gymnastics, musical instrument), class subject tutor, or sports coach.

Child Development Center

This program is for ages 6 weeks to 5 years.  There is full day care, part-day program, drop-in care, and “Give Parents a Break” sponsored by Air Force Aid Society. 

Family Child Care

 

This program offers in-home care for parents who want their child in a home environment vs a child development or school age center.  Ratios are 1:6.  Age ranges vary from 3 weeks up to age 12.  Most AETC bases offer this program.  There is additional care for extended duty, deployed personnel, evening and weekend care. 

Extended Duty Care (EDC) for child care emergencies, deployed spouse child care assistance, care over 50-hours per week, and non-traditional hours (evenings, weekends).

Returning Home Care (RHC) supports Airmen returning home from deployments lasting 30 or more days or who routinely deploy on a short-term bases (cum 30 days in a 6 month period) receive 16 hours of care upon their return at no cost to the family.

FCC Subsidy Program allows parents to utilize an FCC home and pay the same weekly fee they would be charged for child care in the CDC or SA program. 

Child Care for PCS allows up to 20 hours of child care/per child in FCC homes at leaving and gaining bases within 60 days of departure/arrival.

Child Care for Volunteers provides child care at no cost to parents volunteering on base at FCC homes.

CDC Youth
Youth Programs

Partners with:  Boys & Girls Clubs of America, USDA/4-H, National Alliance for Youth Sports, National Afterschool Association

School Age
Offers before/after school and holiday/summer care for ages 6-12.  Ratios are 1:12.  There are many exciting programs available for youth from Air Force, Boys & Girls Club, and 4-H.  Five core program areas:  Character and Leadership, Arts, Youth Sports/Fitness/and Recreation, Health &Life Skills, and Education &Career Development.
Youth Membership
The youth center is a special place for youth ages 6-18.  There are various self-directed and group activities for youth to enjoy along with numerous Boys and Girls Clubs of America and 4H activities to engage them.  There is normally an annual membership fee (non-members are welcome for a daily fee).   The youth center is a great place for youth to be themselves, hang out with their peers, and become in community activities. Some of the major programs offered youth are:   

Fit Factor – web based program for physical and health wellbeing.  Youth earn points to various levels and prizes.  

Youth Employment Skills (YES) – for Offers high school students of active duty parents an opportunity to learn valuable work skills, “bank” dollar credits toward college, and have a positive impact on their base community.  

Stay Connected Deployment Kits provide children and parents with a way to maintain a connection and remember each other while separated.

Youth Running

4-H Adventure Camp is an outdoor leadership program for 13-18 year old youth introduces participants to a variety of fitness and outdoor educational experiences that teach life skills, build teamwork and foster positive relationships.

Performing Arts Camp provides intensive performing arts training complete with dance, voice and drama classes that prepare participants to perform an original production. Other camps offered by AF and local bases are dependent upon funds/instructor availability (ex theater arts, skateboard, archery, track & field, computer, science, cooking, technology)

Additional AF Youth Programs

Military Child Care in Your Neighborhood (MCCYN) – is designed to meet the child care needs of service members living in off-base areas where on-base military child care is not available.
Mission Youth Outreach is a partnership between AF Services and BGCA that provides 1-year of free membership for youth to attend any local BGCA club in their community.
Operation Military Child Care (OMCC) is a child care subsidy program designed to assist activated ANG/AFR members with child care costs I their local communities, in state-licensed, off-installation FCC homes.

AIRMAN & FAMILY READINESS

(A&FRC) offer services and assistance in the following areas.  Please contact the nearest A&FRC for more information.

Personal and Family Readiness for Deployments, Contingencies, and Emergencies - offers information, education, and support to individuals, families, and the community

Personal and Family Life Education - includes prevention/enrichment education and consultation designed to enhance social competence for individuals, couples, and families and build resilience skills that assist in navigating a mobile, military lifestyle

Air Force Wounded Warrior (AFW2) Program - is the Air Force military severely injured program to assist combat-related ill/injured Airmen and their families in receiving personnel services and support, extended transition assistance, and five-year case management follow-up

Personal Financial Management - provides information, education, and personal financial counseling to help individuals and families maintain financial readiness

Dependent Education Information and Assistance - advocates for the educational needs of military children.  Assists military members and families with information and referrals regarding local school districts and other educational options including home schooling, private schools, charter schools, and cyber schools

Relocation Assistance - provides assessment, information, referral, and resources for all DoD personnel experiencing or about to experience the challenges associated with moving

Transition Assistance - provides assistance to separating or retiring military members, DoD civilians, and their families.  Transition Assistance Program (TAP) seminars are offered with a  focus on benefits, job search assistance, and additional services

Air Force Aid Society (AFAS) - the official charity of the United States Air Force.  Promotes the Air Force mission by providing worldwide emergency assistance to members and their families, sponsoring educational assistance programs, and offering a variety of base community enhancement programs that impact member/family welfare

Employment/Career Assistance - provides employment skills counseling to prepare customers for local and long-distance job searches; resources for self-employment, small business and entrepreneurial efforts

Volunteer Resources - provides the means to recruit, train, place, and recognize volunteer service

Heart Link - AF spouse orientation program designed to acquaint spouses with the military life-style and the services available on the installation

Information and referral services - assists individuals and families identify and clarify needs; determines appropriate forms of support and provides linkage to resources, including exceptional family member resources

Military Family Life Consultants (MFLC) - provides non-medical, short term, situational, problem-solving counseling services to address issues that occur across the military lifestyle and help Service members and their families cope with normal reactions to the stressful and often adverse situations created by deployments and reintegration.  The MFLCs are contracted by OSD and housed in A&FRCs to augment existing military support services.

AETC Fitness is the largest fitness program in the Air Force, with 24 facilities at 12 bases.  Of the 12 bases 5 have received 5-Star and 5 bases have received 4-Star ratings in FY08.  We offer our 5M customers a year the best in up to date equipment, programs and service.

AETC MARATHON TEAM

Since 2002 AETC has funded a Command team to represent the MAJCOM at the annual AF Marathon at Wright-Paterson AFB OH in September every year.  We send one each men’s and women’s team and two individual men and women for the full marathon.  New team members are recruited each year in July.  Contact your local Fitness Center Director for information and a copy of the AF Form 303, REQUEST FOR USAF SPECIALIZED SPORTS TRAINING.

HIGHER LEVEL SPORTS

AETC members can apply to attend higher level sports by completing the AF Form 303, REQUEST FOR USAF SPECIALIZED SPORTS TRAINING and submitting the form through their local Fitness Center Director, who will review for completion and send to the MAJCOM.  The AF Services Agency makes selections based on skills and past performance for most sports.  If selected the AF Services Agency funds the athletes travel etc. 

AETC ATHLETES OF THE YEAR PROGRAM

AETC selects the AETC ATHLETES OF THE YEAR (one male & female) in Sept of each year.  The call letter will be sent to your Installation Commander to request nominations for the best athlete at your bases.  The base nominee packages will meet the AETC Selection Board and a winner selected.  The personnel selected for the AETC Athlete of the year will also compete for the Air Force Level Award.

Many of our bases offer recreational areas that are off base.  Activities include water sports, picnicking and camping, and many of our sites have furnished cabins for extended stays.

ITT is your one stop place for the best prices on all area attractions.  They are available to assist you in planning group tours.

Leisure Travel Office

We offer opportunities for you to learn minor maintenance skills or provide the work space and tools for the more experienced mechanic.

Many of our bases offer classes in wood working and provide space for you to explore your carpentry skills.

Pet Friendly Temporary Lodging Facilities

Pets may now be lodged in Temporary Lodging Facilities (TLFs) with their owners. Specific guidelines are as follows:  When an installation commander determines there is a valid need to accommodate pets in TLFs, they may designate up to 40 percent of their TLF units as pet friendly.
